2021: New Shop Hours

Things are changing, AGAIN......and that's the one constant around here. As we move into 2021, we will be navigating the inevitable post-Christmas slump as well as the need to balance our own health (& sanity!) with that of the greater community. Being open for the last 6 weeks has taught us a lot about what our customers want from their in-person shopping experience as well what we can expect in terms of foot traffic. We found appointment shopping to be a little hit or miss and noticed lots of you still prefer shopping online/curbside pickup. Many customers were thrilled to be...

Covid and Shopping Updates, late November 2020

Hello! We're still here!We chose to keep our brick & mortar closed for the past 8 months for many reasons. At the top of that list was concern for the health of our community. We would remain closed if it were still financially feasible for us to do so but that is no longer the case. Covid (& Other) Updates, September 2020

There's a lot going on your world, country, city, family, home, school, work, body, mind, heart...and you are all navigating it the best you can. That is true for us, too. Covid-19 Update, Summer

I had hoped to open our brick & mortar to appointment shopping beginning this month. However, the confluence of some personal family matters with an uncertain retail environment caused by Covid-19, has led me to the decision to take an extended leave from the shop this summer. Asking my employees to open and run the shop under the restrictions and new guidelines required by the state is not something I’m willing to do - particularly when my ability to offer direct support in such an important transition will be unreliable. As a team, we have decided that the best course...

Listen, Learn & Do Better

Listen, Learn & Do Better

Those of you who follow us on social media may have noticed that we were mostly quiet online this past week. During that time, I and my staff were in conversation about how to best support the Black community in an ongoing and real way. I admit to a lifelong fear of failure that almost paralyzed me as I tried to find a path forward in work that guarantees I will be unable to execute it perfectly. I'm thankful for the many leaders, activists and writers whose posts, articles, podcasts, books, etc. helped me realize the goal shouldn't be to...
