If you’ve ever been to the shop you know that we share space with our sweet friends, Saint Cupcake Deluxe. Here is the official story of how it all happened…
Noun’s Stephanie and Saint Cupcake’s Jami met in 9th grade English class at Geneva High School in sunny Ohio. They knew they would be best friends from the moment they made their first several hundred prank calls together. The relationship between the two girls only grew stronger as Jami and Stephanie “worked” at Eddie’s Grill and out of sheer ingenuity, created the company’s much needed safety plan and procedure policy in the event of an emergency lemon-lime slush spill. Together they designed blueprints of sundaes, laughed in the face of gravity by piling foot high towers of soft serve ice cream onto wafer cones and, of course, they continued to make several more prank phone calls.
Years later, and still before caller id had been invented, Stephanie and Jami (armed with two serious English Lit degrees and a non-strategic plan to take the entrepreneurial world by storm) opened up a map of the U.S., covered their eyes and pointed to a spot on the paper country before them. “Langdon, North Dakota,” Stephanie said. “Hmm. Maybe try it again.” So this time, with one eye open, a finger landed on a place called Hermiston, Oregon. “I hear Portland is cool and that looks kinda close,” Jami said. And they have been here ever since.
When Jami first opened Saint Cupcake in the Fall of 2005, Stephanie was there to help out. But she still held tight to her childhood dream of being able to shop for a living. So she made Jami promise to open a Saint Cupcake by her house so they could be roommates again and work together just like when they were young. All we can say is – if you someday get a prank call and your caller id reads “Saint Cupcake,” it’s probably Stephanie using Jami’s phone.
The end.
